Reynaldo Lopez shows well in All-Star Futures Game

Nationals pitching prospect right-hander Reynaldo Lopez contributed well in his outing for the World Futures team at the All-Star Futures Game in San Diego on Sunday.
The World Futures dismantled the U.S. Futures 11-3, as 19-year-old Eloy Jimenez from the Dominican Republic had a double and a home run with four RBIs.
The 22-year-old Lopez recorded three outs, bridging the sixth and seventh innings, consistently hitting 99 and 100 miles per hour with his fastball.
Lopez forced a grounder to second base, a pop up to first base and a sharply hit line drive to left field.
Facing David Dahl, Lopez fired a 99 mph four-seam fastball on his first pitch. Lopez topped 100 and 99 mph on consecutive pitches against Alex Bregman in the seventh. He again hit 100 and 99 mph on consecutive pitches versus Christin Stewart.
Lopez threw 11 pitches, seven for strikes. He was promoted to Triple-A Syracuse on June 27. He is 4-5 with a 3.19 ERA in 16 minor league games this season with 109 strikeouts and 31 walks.
