Ravens Designate Suggs Franchise Player

The Baltimore Ravens this afternoon designated Terrell Suggs as a franchise player for the second year in a row. By doing this, the Ravens secure Suggs' rights for the 2009 season. "Our plan is to sign 'Sizzle' to a long-term contract. We believe our history of keeping our best players for a long time speaks for itself," general manager and executive vice president Ozzie Newsome said. Players who played for the 2008 Ravens who are not under contract for 2009 will become free agents on Feb. 27 unless they sign new agreements with the team before then
