Post-game Notes: Rangers take series opener

He won again - Winning pitcher Scott Feldman did not allow an Oriole to get to second base until the 6th inning and that was also the inning he lost his shutout and a scoreless streak of 18 1/3 innings. Feldman is now 15-4, 3.62 on the year after pitching 6 2/3 tonight and throwing 102 pitches. Over his last three starts, he is 3-0, 0.47. He won his 7th straight road decision tonight, the first Ranger to do that since Bobby Witt in 1990. In 14 road games this year, he is 11-1, 2.80. He improved to 3-0, 3.24 in seven career games, three starts, vs. the Orioles. Feldman becomes the first Texas pitcher to win 15 games since Kevin Millwood and Vincente Padilla did it in 2006. Reliever Neftali Perez pitched 2 1/3 shutout innings for his second save. In 12 games on the year he has pitched 22 innings allowing just five hits and one run with one walk and 28 strikeouts. And not batting leadoff for the Orioles..... - For the first time since 2004 tonight, Brian Roberts played in a game and did not beat leadoff. He batted third for the first-time ever in the Majors. He went 1 for 3 with an RBI single. In 2004, Roberts batted second 76 times and ninth four times. He has batted leadoff 979 times in his career. Where's the beef - The O's went just four for 30 at bat tonight with four singles and went 1 for 4 with runners in scoring position. The O's have scored just three runs over the past two games and 10 runs over the last four contests. Since the All-Star break, they have now scored three runs or less 22 times and are 1-21 in those games. Felix Pie, who was batting .407 during his seven-game hitting streak, went 0 for 3 with a walk in the leadoff spot. Losing pitcher Chris Tillman is now 1-3, 4.66. He gave up five runs and seven hits over six innings. It ties for the most runs and hits he has allowed on the season. Tillman threw 110 pitches. It's the 6th time in eight Major League starts he has topped 100 pitches. He did that in only three of 18 starts with Triple-A Norfolk. Texas improved to 18 games over .500 at 76-58. It is their highest mark above .500 since September 25, 2004. The O's fell to a season-worst 27 games under the .500 mark.
