Snyder's first at bat tonight at Aberdeen

In his first at bat tonight with the IronBirds, Brandon Snyder hit a booming double to deep center field. Batting against Tri-City right-hander Bobby Doran, Houston's fourth-round pick last month, Snyder ripped a 2-1 pitch out near the warning track in center for an easy double. It was his first game at bat since June 17 while with Norfolk. Snyder, batting third and playing at first base, came up after Trent Mummey struck out and Austin Knight lined out. Snyder scored on a Kipp Schutz RBI single to left for a 1-0 Aberdeen lead. Aberdeen starter Scott Copeland pitched out of a two-on jam in a scoreless top of the first. Meanwhile, IronBirds starting pitcher, Bruno Sanchez has been named the New York-Penn League's pitcher of the week. Sanchez had two starts last week and went a combined 2-0 with a 0.00 earned run average while striking out 13 batters in 12 innings pitched. In both of Sanchez's starts he threw six shutout innings. Overall on the year, Sanchez is 2-1, 3.68 with 21 strikeouts in 22 innings and he has held opponents scoreless in five of his seven appearances this season.
