It was a sad day and night in Baltimore on Monday. The right decision was made to postpone the Orioles game with Chicago and take people out of a potentially dangerous location and situation.
Watching the local TV coverage and seeing rioting and looting just made me sad, and innocent people and businesses were no doubt damaged and hurt. Again, just sad.
As we wait to find out when and where the Orioles can play again and if they will play at home, let's divert back quickly here, or at least...
ATLANTA - Right-hander Doug Fister surrendered the dreaded leadoff walk to Braves right fielder Nick Markakis to start the game. Fister would pay for it as Markakis advanced to third on first baseman Freddie Freeman's double and then scored easily on a sacrifice fly from catcher A.J. Pierzynski.
Fister had an 18-inning scoreless streak working against the Braves until the first-inning run.
The slumping Nats offense has yet to pick up a hit yet against Braves starter Eric Stults.
Update: Second...
On a night when the Orioles and White Sox game has been postponed by the protests and rioting in Baltimore, the commissioner of Major League Baseball was in Baltimore.
Rob Manfred was here for a previously arranged visit and just happened to be here on a day when MLB officials were obviously involved with Orioles officials in monitoring the events.
A few minutes ago, Manfred spoke with reporters about the situation and even disclosed that it is possible that games could be played elsewhere this...
Tonight's game between the Orioles and White Sox has been postponed. An announcement regarding the make-up date will be made at a later date.
Fans are encouraged to keep their tickets and parking passes until more information is made available.
Players were seen leaving their parking lot shortly before the Orioles made the annoucement after consultation with the Baltimore City Police Department.
Orioles manager Buck Showalter tried to strike a balance today between staying up to date on the...
ATLANTA - Infielder Anthony Rendon will not make his scheduled minor league rehab start at Double-A Harrisburg tonight due to fatigue, according to the Nationals. Rendon, who is recovering from a left MCL sprain, was due to play seven innings at second base in his third game. He was 2-for-4 in his first two games, playing five innings on Friday and seven on Saturday, before a planned day off yesterday.
Nationals manager Matt Williams expected Rendon to follow tonight's game with a full nine...

For now, Rey Navarro has become the everyday second baseman for the Orioles. Signed by the club to a major league contract in November, he was called up from Triple-A Norfolk for Friday night's game and made his major league debut that evening.
It was a long time coming for the 25-year-old Navarro, who was orginally a third-round draft pick by Arizona in 2007.
Before his debut Friday, he had played in 885 minor league games with 3,289 at-bats on the farm.
Navarro has a connection to former...
The Orioles have been consulting with the Baltimore Police Department regarding safety issues in the city and will continue to do so throughout the night. They intend to begin their three-game series tonight against the White Sox.
Players were watching the televised coverage in the clubhouse this afternoon as protesters threw rocks and bottles at police officers at Mondawmin Mall.
"I'm not oblivious to what's going on," said manager Buck Showalter, "but I'm trying to keep our guys...
You have questions, we have the answers:
Q: Are the Mets for real in the National League East or is this an April mirage?
A: The Mets' start is a sign of their all-new can-do attitude. They won 79 games last season and came to spring training convinced they were a contender. And then, after they won two of three in their first series in Washington, they had a confidence-builder, beating a team they went 4-15 against in 2014. The Mets are winning even though their second-best pitcher, Zack...
ATLANTA - The experimentation continues for Nationals manager Matt Williams as he looks to find the right formula for his offense.
Facing Braves left-hander Eric Stults tonight, Williams has placed first baseman Ryan Zimmerman second in the order. Zimmerman is batting just .205, but has six extra-base hits (five doubles, one triple) and nine RBIs in his last 11 games. Overall, he leads the team with 12 RBIs and his eight walks are second most.
Right-hander Doug Fister gets his turn at stopping...
