Carlos Maldonado Reinstated From DL & Optioned to Syracuse

Following tonight’s game, the Washington Nationals recalled from rehab and reinstated catcher Carlos Maldonado from the 15-Day Disabled List then optioned him to Syracuse of the Triple-A International League. Nationals Senior Vice President and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.

Maldonado missed the last 24 contests after going on the 15-Day DL (right thumb) on June 5, retroactive to June 4. The 31-year-old batted .273 (3-for-11) with one home run and three RBI in four games with the Nationals.
