Game 120 lineups: Nats at Cardinals (updated)

ST. LOUIS - And we’re back for another evening of exciting Nationals baseball at Busch Stadium. What does tonight have in store for the D.C. nine? It’s tough to imagine anything more dramatic (or devastating) than what this team has experienced in the last 48 hours. But at this point, nothing should surprise you.

We don’t yet know the state of the Nats bullpen for tonight’s game, but reinforcements have arrived. Ryan Madson and Sammy Solís are not listed on the lineup card for tonight’s game, but Tim Collins and Trevor Gott are. We’re awaiting word from the Nats on official roster moves, however.

Matt Grace is almost certainly going to be the first man up if Gio Gonzalez falters in his 24th start of the season.

Gonzalez-Throws_Gray-Pirates-Sidebar.jpgGonzalez was great his last time out against the Braves, not good his previous time out against the Reds, great the time before that against the Marlins. Again, who knows what you’re going to get from the lefty tonight.

The Nationals have been hitting the ball much better of late; they lead the National League with 130 runs scored since the All-Star break. They’ll need to keep that going tonight against Cardinals right-hander John Gant, who has minimal experience against the Nats from his previous time with the Braves.

Update: The Nats have recalled Gott from Triple-A Syracuse, selected the contract of Collins, placed Madson on the 10-day disabled list with lumbar nerve root irritation and optioned Solís to Syracuse. To create a spot on the 40-man roster for Collins, right-hander Erick Fedde was transferred to the 60-day DL.
