Battle of the bullpens (Mets walk off with 4-3 win)

FLUSHING, N.Y. - Both Edwin Jackson and Mike Pelfrey are out of this game, and with the score tied 3-3 in the middle of the seventh, the Nationals and Mets will leave the outcome of tonight's game up to their bullpens. Jackson went five innings in his Nationals debut, allowing three earned runs on four hits with two walks and six strikeouts. The outing was along the lines of what we saw all spring - Jackson showed he can overpower guys at times and rack up the strikeouts, but he allows a bunch of base runners and works his way into trouble. I guess that's Edwin Jackson in a nutshell. Meanwhile, Nationals hitters have struck out nine more times tonight through seven innings. Ian Desmond, Danny Espinosa and Jayson Werth all have two strikeouts a piece. Washington also spoiled a prime opportunity to take the lead in the seventh when Espinosa and Ryan Zimmerman walked leading off the inning. Adam LaRoche couldn't continue on his hot recent streak, flying out to left, and then Werth followed by grounding into an inning-ending 6-4-3 double play. Even when he does put the ball in play, little is going right for Werth these days. Update: The Mets earned a 4-3 walk-off win in the bottom of the ninth when Daniel Murphy singled home Mike Baxter. Henry Rodriguez gets the loss for Washington after walking Baxter to lead off the ninth inning, then throwing one down the left-field line as he attempted to throw out Ruben Tejada at first. Baxter went to third on the play with none out, and scored on Murphy's single to right. Back from the clubhouse in a bit.
