Cavalli selected for 2021 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game

Washington Nationals top pitching prospect Cade Cavalli has been selected to represent the organization in the 2021 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game. Major League Baseball made the announcement today on MLB Network's "MLB Central." The 22nd SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game features the top Minor League prospects competing as part of All-Star Sunday.

Cavalli, 22, leads all of Minor League Baseball with 88 strikeouts and ranks among all Minor League pitchers in ERA (4th, 1.77), WHIP (7th, 0.89) and opponents' batting average (9th .171). All told, Cavalli is 3-2 with a 2.06 ERA in nine starts between High-A East Wilmington and Double-A East Harrisburg in his first full professional season.

The right-handed Cavalli opened the 2021 season with Wilmington, going 3-1 with a 1.77 ERA (8 ER/40.2 IP) and 77 strikeouts in seven starts. In his final High-A East start, he struck out 15 batters in 7.0 no-hit innings against Jersey Shore (PHI) en route to being named High-A East Pitcher of the Week.

Cavalli was promoted to Harrisburg on June 15 and is 0-1 with a 3.09 ERA (4 ER/11.2 IP) and 17 strikeouts in two starts for the Senators.

Washington's first-round pick in the 2020 First-Year Player Draft (No. 22 overall), Cavalli is Washington's top prospect according to MLBPipeline.com and Baseball America. He is rated by Baseball America as the No. 29 prospect in all of baseball.

The 2021 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game will be played at 3:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 11th at Coors Field in Denver Colorado.
