Game 50 lineups: Nats at Giants

SAN FRANCISCO - Hello from the banks of McCovey Cove, where it's currently 54 degrees with a nice marine layer hovering over everything as the Nationals begin their week-long tour of the Bay Area. Yes, this is a rare (and nice) road trip that includes three games against the Giants, an off day and then three games against the Athletics on the other side of the bay.

These Giants are not the Giants we've come to know over the last half-decade or so, languishing near the bottom of the National League West a full eight games under the .500 mark. They rank, along with the Padres, at the bottom of the league in most offensive categories. It's basically Buster Posey, Brandon Belt and ... not much else.

roark-pitching-red-sidebar.jpgThe Nationals are sending Tanner Roark to the mound for today's matinee season opener, the right-hander hoping to build off his really strong start last week against the Mariners. And Dusty Baker, of course, is back in the dugout after spending the weekend out this way attending his son's high school graduation. Chris Speier, owner of a 2-1 record, returns to his usual bench coach role.
