Get creative in the annual Nationals Pumpkin Contest

Halloween is one of those times during the year when I wish I had a single creative bone in my body. Costume ideas seem to avoid me, while my lack of artistic skills keep me from carving pretty much anything into a pumpkin except for a somewhat disfigured jack-o-lantern. But for those of you with the knack for carving pumpkins, here's your chance to put those talents on display and, if your creation is among the best, take home some coveted Nationals game-used baseballs. From now until Oct. 26, fans can take part in the annual Nationals Pumpkin Contest. By following the link here, fans can carve their own pumpkin and submit their design online to be voted as the top creation. The voting will take place from Oct. 26-Nov. 3, where the winning carver and another winner chosen at random will take home an authentic, game-used baseball from the Nationals. The designs don't have to be related to the Nationals, but, come on, how cool would it look to have a Stephen Strasburg pumpkin on your front porch? How about the Nationals curly W logo? My personal suggestion would be to take four pumpkins and carve each of the participants in the famous Presidents Race (Teddy placed slightly behind the others, of course). Whatever your idea, grab your tools and get carving. More information on the contest can be found at the above link. Happy Halloween!!
