Harper, Rendon missing from Nats lineup for Braves finale (updated)

If the Nationals are going to complete their sweep of the Braves, they'll have to do so without right fielder Bryce Harper and second baseman Anthony Rendon, both of whom are out of today's starting lineup.

No official word yet on what's up with either Harper or Rendon.

Harper-Red-After-HBP-Sidebar.jpgHarper appeared to be in some discomfort when he reached second base on his 11th-inning leadoff double in last night's extra-inning win, but waved off manager Matt Williams and head athletic training Lee Kuntz, who came out to check him anyway.

After the game, Williams said the problem was a cramp in Harper's right leg, but not a problem with the left hamstring that was an issue last week.

Danny Espinosa gets the start today at second base, while Clint Robinson takes over in right field.

For the Braves:

2B Jace Peterson
CF Cameron Maybin
RF Nick Markakis
C A.J. Pierzynski
1B Joey Terdoslavich
3B Kelly Johnson

For the Nationals:

CF Denard Span
2B Danny Espinosa
3B Yunel Escobar
RF Clint Robinson

RHP Doug Fister

Update: Manager Matt Williams said both Harper and Rendon both have the "day off." He said both are available off the bench today. Rendon has been dealing with some left quad soreness.
