Mark Zuckerman named D.C. Sportswriter of the Year

MASNsports.com Nationals beat writer Mark Zuckerman has been named as the Sportswriter of the Year for Washington, D.C., by the National Sports Media Association.

Zuckerman, who joined MASNsports.com in 2016, will be honored at the 59th annual NSMA Awards Weekend in Winston-Salem, N.C., from June 23-25. He's a first-time winner of the award, which is voted on by other D.C.-based sportswriters.

He'll be honored in Winston-Salem along with Washington Capitals broadcaster Joe Beninati, who won his second D.C. Sportscaster of the Year award, and longtime Washington Post columnist Tom Boswell, who will be inducted into the NSMA Hall of Fame.

Zuckerman has covered the Nationals since the Montreal Expos announced they were relocating to Washington for the 2005 season. Before coming to MASNsports.com, he worked the Nats beat for the Washington Times, Nats Insider and Comcast SportsNet.

He is president of the Baltimore/Washington chapter of the Baseball Writers' Association of America and has been a voter for the National Baseball Hall of Fame since 2011.

A graduate of Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, Zuckerman currently resides in Centreville with his wife and son.
