Nationals mascot Screech headed overseas

As the days grow shorter and the weather turns colder, a lot of people in the northeast are looking to escape the blunders of winter for more promising weather. It looks like Screech, the popular Nationals mascot, is no exception. As part of the 2011 Taiwan All-Star Series, Screech was selected as the only major league mascot to accompany the team of Major League Baseball All-Stars on the journey. He'll join a group of players overseas for the five-day tournament to be held Nov. 2-6. Joining Screech will be several players, including familiar faces Ross Detwiler and Michael Morse, who will both play for the MLB roster, as well as pitcher Chien-Ming Wang, who will play for the Chinese Taipai National Team. The 2011 Taiwan All-Star Series will consist of five games played between three different cities - New Taipei City (XinZhuang Stadium) on Nov. 2, Taichung (Intercontinental Stadium) on Nov 3-4 and Kaohsiung (Chengcing Lake Stadium) on Nov. 5-6. For those interested in following Screech on his trip, Nationals fans can follow Screech on Twitter at @ScreechTheEagle and on the Screech's Spot blog to learn more about his travels in Taiwan.
