Nationals place Ramos on 15-day DL, recall Leon

The Washington Nationals today placed catcher Wilson Ramos on the 15-Day Disabled List, retroactive to April 1, with a left hamate fracture and recalled catcher Sandy Leon from Syracuse of the Triple-A International League. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement. Ramos, 26, sustained the injury in Monday's season opener at Citi Field. The 25-year-old Leon is a switch-hitting catcher from Maracaibo, Venezuela. He has played in 14 games for Washington the last two seasons (2012, '13). Regarded as an excellent defender, Leon has thrown out 169 of 353 (48%) would-be basestealers the previous four minor-league seasons (2010-13).
