Nationals select contract of right-hander Justin Miller

The Washington Nationals selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Justin Miller on Friday. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.
Miller, 30, joins the Nationals after tossing 13.2 innings of scoreless relief across nine appearances out of Triple-A Syracuse's bullpen. He struck out 23 batters, issued three walks and surrendered just three hits (3-for-43) along the way. Miller tossed more than 1.0 inning of relief in six of the nine outings.
Miller has appeared in 82 games across three Major League seasons with Colorado (2015-16) and Detroit (2014). He has posted 9.0 strikeouts per 9.0 innings (88 SO/88.1 IP) while going 5-4 with a 4.99 ERA in those 82 relief appearances.
The spot on Washington's 25-man roster was made available after the Nationals optioned right-handed pitcher Erick Fedde to Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday.
