Pregame thoughts from the skipper, plus lineups

Davey Johnson says he didn't sleep too well last night. He was left thinking about the game that got away. The Nationals' skipper came in to the park this morning and ran two miles on the treadmill. He says he took two minutes off his time. "I punished myself," Johnson said. "I tried to wipe out some memory banks and create some new brain cells in my head. I hope it works." Everyone will technically be available in the Nationals' bullpen today, Johnson said, but he'd like to stay away from Craig Stammen if possible, given the righty threw 62 pitches two days ago. Johnson isn't thrilled with how he handled his bullpen last night, but he also isn't completely happy with how he's managed his stable of relievers over the last handful of weeks. The crux of the issue is that he's needed to ride Sean Burnett and Tyler Clippard pretty hard lately. He'd like to be able to give those two more of a breather to keep them fresh for the final couple months of the season. "Part of my problem is that with the different closers, the changes in set-up guys and all that kinds of stuff, I haven't been pleased with the way I've had to set it up the last month or so," Johnson said. "And part of that leads to the problem that we had yesterday. That's because I've kind of gone out of what I thought was the best scenario, rather than what's the best for the long haul. "My task moving forward is to try and, with all the pieces here now, put it back into some semblance of order." Johnson said he's trying to get Drew Storen back to where he was last year, and putting the righty into his second game in as many days was "an attempt to try and expedite that situation." Meanwhile, even though Jesus Flores left yesterday's game with tightness in his back, he's in the Nationals' lineup for Game One today. Johnson said he thinks Flores aggravated the back when he slid into home in the fifth inning last night. Here are the lineups for the first game of today's twin-bill: For the Nationals LF Steve Lombardozzi CF Bryce Harper 3B Ryan Zimmerman RF Michael Morse 1B Adam LaRoche SS Ian Desmond 2B Danny Espinosa C Jesus Flores P Edwin Jackson For the Braves CF Michael Bourn LF Martin Prado RF Jason Heyward 1B Freddie Freeman C Brian McCann 2B Dan Uggla 3B Juan Francisco SS Paul Janish P Ben Sheets
