Rendon gets rare day off vs. D-backs

Anthony Rendon gets a rare night off as the Nationals look to extend their season-best winning streak to nine in a row. Rendon has played every inning of every game since sitting out June 7-9 with a sore right hand. Instead, he'll be a valuable bat off the bench as the Nats hope to secure a series victory over the Diamondbacks. Kevin Frandsen is playing third in Rendon's place. He'll bat eighth. Tanner Roark is on the mound against Arizona right-hander Trevor Cahill, who is 2-0 with a 2.18 ERA in his last three starts. He's 1-2 with a 5.40 ERA in three career starts against the Nats. Roark is 6-5 with a 2.57 ERA in 12 home starts this season. This will be his second career appearance against the Diamondbacks. In his first, he allowed just one unearned run and three hits in seven innings.
