What's an acceptable result in 2015?

Well, hello, 2015. Nice to see you.

Hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable New Year's Eve, and that you're not feeling too beat up this morning after any late-night celebrating that might have gone on.

I'll plead the Fifth on that one, personally.

Remember a couple of days ago when I said that I wouldn't be attending the Winter Classic and would instead be enjoying the event from the warmth and comfort of my living room? Well, consider me a liar.

I was offered a ticket to today's Capitals-Blackhawks game at Nationals Park, so I'll be tossing on quite a few layers and watching some good old-fashioned outdoor hockey this afternoon. Should be lots of fun and provide some great visuals.

When the Caps clear out of Nationals Park, I think it's safe to say that the next sporting event that will be held at the facility will be on opening day, when the Nats take on the Mets.

The Nationals will enter the 2015 season having won the National League East two out of the previous three years, with 280 regular season wins in that three-year period. That's the most of any major league team in that span.

Not too long ago, the Nationals registering a .500 record would have been considered a victory in the eyes of many fans of the organization. And likely a major victory, at that.

Five straight years of well-below-.500 records will do that.

Then, reaching the playoffs at all would have been seen as a major accomplishment to many fans.

Merely reaching the postseason is likely no longer seen as an acceptable end result for many fans, even though that's a very difficult goal to accomplish. So how high are the expectations now? What would have to happen this season for you to consider the year a success?

Will anything short of a World Series title be a disappointment? Would appearing in the Fall Classic be enough to satisfy your Nationals needs?

The composition of the roster and the fact that so many key players are eligible for free agency after this season might affect your judgment when it comes to this question, I'm aware of that fact. Given that Jordan Zimmermann, Ian Desmond, Doug Fister, Denard Span and Tyler Clippard are all set to hit the free agent market next winter, we don't know how much the roster will turn over after this season is behind us.

So now that 2014 is in the past and we're nearly three months from opening day, what are your expectations for this team this season?
