A couple of offensive notes on Reynolds, Adams and Wieters

Here are a few notes about some Orioles and their recent performance at the bat. * Mark Reynolds drove in a season-high five runs in the Orioles 8-2 win last night. Reynolds had four RBIs total over his previous 11 games and was just 6-for-38 in those 11 games, but he had three hits last night. After going through a stretch where he hit just one homer over 19 games, Reynolds has now hit three homers in his past five games. He had 23 homers at the end of July. Last year, he had 24 at the end of July and finished with 32. In 2009, he had 29 at the end of July, hit 11 in August and finished with 44. * Matt Wieters is struggling at bat right now. He went 0-for-4 last night and has just three hits over his past 36 at bats over a nine-game stretch. His average has dropped from .273 to .252 in that time. Wieters would not make any excuses but he has been among the major league leaders all year in innings caught by any catcher. We have seen Buck Showalter DH him some recently and he has not played in two of the last four O's games. *J.J. Hardy went 2-for-4 last night with a double and RBI after going 0-for-17 in the New York series. Hardy had just five hits in 31 at-bats on this road trip before last night, but four of those hits were homers. * Adam Jones is having a real good second half. In 18 games since the All-Star break, Jones is batting .333 at 23-for-69 with five homers, 14 RBIs and a .969 OPS. In July, Jones hit .320 with five homers, 17 RBIs and a .876 OPS. * By the way, if the Orioles can win one of the final two games of the K.C. series, they will end a run of losing their last 11 road series and have their first series win of any kind since June 24-26 against the Reds. The Orioles are 0-8-1 over the last nine series and have not won a road series since taking two of three from Tampa Bay May 13-15.
