A few notes off today's workout

SARASOTA, Fla. - I'll file quotes later today, but I wanted to pass along a few nuggets from today's workout. First baseman Brandon Snyder reported to camp. Luis Lebron, who underwent ligament-reconstructive surgery on his right elbow in May, threw off a mound for the first time today. Justin Duchscherer threw all four of his pitches among the 40 that were unleashed in his session. He was pleased with his breaking ball, which he explained had more movement because of the humidity. He's used to throwing in the dry Arizona heat. Troy Patton threw outdoors for the first time after six or seven indoor sessions back home. He wasn't happy with his breaking stuff, but added, "That's to be expected." Otherwise, he felt good. Patton noted how the mounds are steeper here. Matt Wieters hit the first home run to right field on Field 4, which has the same dimensions as Camden Yards. Wieters has opened some eyes early in camp. He's in tremendous shape and just seems to have more of a presence in the clubhouse. More than one person here has predicted a breakout season for him. Manager Buck Showalter continues to view Jim Johnson and Jason Berken only as candidates for the bullpen despite their past histories as starters.
Viera only first step in Harper's big opening seas...
They came to say goodbye to Ernie Tyler
