Camden Yards to host Nov. 2 KidsPeace Trick-or-Trot

That stone-cold visage he displays in the dugout isn't the look on Buck Showalter's face every minute of every day. The Orioles manager may look serious as a heart attack during a game, but he has a heart of gold when it comes to kids. So it's no surprise that Orioles manager Buck Showalter has partnered with KidsPeace, an organization that gives hope, help and healing to children, families and communities throughout the United States. Not every kid is lucky enough to get to spend an afternoon or evening at the ballpark. But through the efforts of Buck and Angela Showalter and their favorite charity, you can help improve the quality of their lives. For the first time, Camden Yards will host the fourth annual Trick-or-Trot 5K/1-mile walk on Saturday, Nov. 2, beginning at 8 a.m. KidsPeace is partnering with the Orioles and OriolesREACH for the event, with proceeds benefiting KidsPeace foster care and community programs of Maryland and Washington D.C. KidsPeaceRaceLogo.jpgOneMain Financial has signed on as the presenting sponsor of the event. Gold sponsors for this year's race include CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, Casey Construction, Bridgeway Community Church, UnderArmour, MASN and WBAL Radio. To become a sponsor, please call 410-964-9329. "We are honored to support local philanthropic organizations such as KidsPeace and OriolesREACH and the vital role they play for the people in our communities," said Mary McDowell, president and CEO of OneMain Financial and CitiFinancial North America. OneMain Financial has been serving local communities since 1912. Based in Baltimore, the company has more than 1,100 locations across the country, including 21 branches in Maryland. "OneMain Financial has stepped up to the plate and hit a home run for the foster youth of KidsPeace," said Angela Showalter, wife of the Orioles manager and a KidsPeace Board member. "Buck and I are honored to have had the opportunity to interact with some of the children and young adults that KidsPeace serves, and we invite the community to join us on race day to lend their support."
