Can't stop talking about Potomac's Karns, who wins fifth straight

High Single-A Potomac's Nathan Karns continues to put together a season that is grabbing the attention of the parent franchise. Karns fired six scoreless innings as the P-Nats dropped Lynchburg 14-0 at Pfitzner Stadium. The Hillcats managed just one hit against Potomac pitching and it was the Nationals' fourth shutout of the season. Karns improved to 5-2 by allowing just that one hit with two walks and six strikeouts. He has won five consecutive starts. His ERA is 2.12 and he has struck out 59 batters in eight Potomac starts. Joe Testa and Adam Carr pitched a pair of shutout innings to finish off the football-like score. I continue to harp that Alex Meyer and Karns are producing the best power stuff recently. Karns has been hitting 93 to 95 mph and has touched 96 mph, as I have noted in the past, and features a power curve. I would not be surprised to see Meyer promoted to Potomac and Karns to Double-A Harrisburg sometime soon so they can start getting a taste of a higher level.
