Game 40 lineups: Nats at Dodgers

LOS ANGELES - Stephen Strasburg is nearing another milestone in his career. The San Diego native is three wins away from 100 for his career. He is the all-time leader in Nationals starts with 214.

Earlier in the month, he reached 1,500 strikeouts, which shows Nationals manager Davey Martinez how good the right-hander has been for 10 seasons. He is now at 1,512.

"That's impressive, I mean it really is," Martinez said. "Here's a guy that missed a considerable amount of time in his career and still has 1,500 strikeouts. That just only tells me what an unbelievable pitcher he is, and the way he's going right now, if he stays healthy, the sky is the limit."

Strasburg-Throws-Gray-Beard-Sidebar.jpgStrasburg (3-1, 3.45 ERA), known for years for his lethal fastball, has been able to mix in all of his pitches this season to keep hitters off balance, especially his knee-buckling curveball which he has increased in usage recently.

"I get in trouble when I don't use it enough and I think it compliments my other pitches pretty well," Strasburg said.

He has done well against the Dodgers in his career, posting a 2-4 record with a 2.64 ERA in nine starts, but has never won at Dodger Stadium (0-2) despite an 1.80 ERA. This will be his fourth career start at Chavez Ravine.

The Dodgers counter with left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu (3-1, 2.55).

The Nats are seeking their first series win since April 18 against the Giants when they last won two games in a row and their first road series win since April 10 at the Phillies.

The pitching probables are set for the Mets series and the Nats will face all right-handers: Jeremy Hellickson vs. Noah Syndergaard, Patrick Corbin vs. Wilmer Font and Aníbal Sánchez against Zack Wheeler.
