Game 49 lineups: Padres at Nats (game underway)

Right-hander Joe Ross today looks to complete the three-game sweep against the Padres, the team that traded him to the Nationals in December 2014.

Ross-Charts-Pitches-Sidebar.jpgThe 24-year-old Ross will look to continue a trend where Nats starters Max Scherzer and Stephen Strasburg dominated San Diego on Friday and Saturday, respectively. In the last six games, Nats starters have allowed six earned runs in 43 2/3 innings for a 1.24 ERA. In that span, they have struck out 61 and walked only eight.

The Padres have not scored a run against the Nats since the fourth inning Friday night.

Ross is 2-0 with a 5.32 ERA in four starts. He has 20 strikeouts in 23 2/3 innings. He struck out eight and allowed one run in eight innings in a 10-1 win over Seattle on May 23.

San Diego counters with right-hander Jhoulys Chacin (4-4, 5.74 ERA). Ryan Zimmerman swings at a .313 clip with two homers against the veteran.

The Nationals had hoped to have Daniel Murphy back in the lineup, but he's out for a third straight game. Bryce Harper is getting a day off, as are Matt Wieters and Jayson Werth.

Update: The start of today's game will be delayed by inclement weather. Stay tuned for updates.

Update II: The Nationals have announced that today's game is expected to start at 2:50 p.m.

Update III: First pitch was at 2:55 p.m. after a delay of 1 hour, 20 minutes.
