Knorr to D.C. alters minor league coaching staffs (updated)

With Randy Knorr leaving Triple-A Syracuse to be the Nationals bench coach, Tony Beasley will move up to manage the Chiefs this season, according to MiLB.com. (Updated: The Nationals are expected to announce the complete minor league coaching staffs early next week.) Matt Lecroy goes to Double-A Harrisburg to manage the Senators after leading the Single-A Potomac Nationals last season. Brian Daubach is still listed as the manager at Low-A Hagerstown, and his coaching staff remains intact. But even this is not set in stone just yet. The Nationals have had to wait a little longer this offseason to make announcements on who will coach where because they are still finalizing a few hires at each level. For example, Mark Harris is listed as the only coach on the Web site for Potomac, which still needs to announce hirings of a manager and pitching coach in Woodbridge, Va. Pitching coach Paul Menhart is listed at the same position now with Harrisburg. Gary Cathcart will be the coordinator of Instruction again this season for the Nationals. He will emphasize team fundamentals before taking over as manager of the short-season Single-A Auburn Doubledays in mid-June.
