Like brother like brother (w/draft update)

Draft update: The Orioles chose UCLA closer Daniel Klein with the third overall pick in the third round. He missed the 2009 season after undergoing shoulder surgery but made up for it this year. Baseball America notes that he can throw four pitches for strikes, leading some scouts to think he should be given the chance to start. Klein has recorded nine saves for UCLA, the most by a Bruins pitcher since 1993. He's 5-0 with a 2.03 ERA in 35 games, with 35 hits allowed, eight walks and 48 strikeouts in 44 1/3 innings. Did you happen to notice who earned the win for Cal-State Fullerton last night that allowed the Titans to advance to next weekend's NCAA Super Regional? Raymond Hernandez, the younger brother of Orioles pitcher David Hernandez. Making only his second Division I appearance, Raymond held Minnesota to one run and two hits over three innings in a 9-5 victory. He also struck out three after replacing starter Dylan Floro. Cal-State Fullerton will face UCLA in the next round. David, recently moved to the Orioles' bullpen, picked up the win Sunday when the Orioles beat the Red Sox, 4-3, in 11 innings. One night later, Raymond was the pitcher of record in an important victory. Pretty big happenings in the Hernandez household. Reminder: The Orioles will make their third-round selection later today. They forfeited their second-round pick after signing free-agent reliever Michael Gonzalez. The Braves used it to select Jacksonville State center fielder Todd Cunningham, rated by Baseball America last month as the eighth-best outfielder in the draft.
