More on Sunday's doubleheader (Gausman update)

Now that we've got the whole Buck Showalter gnome giveaway straightened out, let's go over a few more important details about Sunday's doubleheader at Camden Yards.

The Orioles will start Ubaldo Jimenez in Game 1 and Chris Tillman in Game 2. They will add a reliever in Game 2 as the 26th man, giving them a full bullpen.

mcfarland-pitches-white-sidebar.jpgLeft-hander T.J. McFarland, optioned yesterday to Triple-A Norfolk, could come back to Baltimore. He's fluent in yo-yo.

Kevin Gausman, no longer considered for the 26th man, was supposed to start tonight at Norfolk before rain forced a postponement.

The Orioles need a starter for Thursday's game against the Rangers at Camden Yards, since Jimenez and Tillman won't be used on short rest. Gausman would have been working on normal rest if he pitched tonight. Could he be shortened on Sunday to remain available to the Orioles? Do they recall Mike Wright or Tyler Wilson?

As always, stay tuned.

The Indians are expected to start Trevor Bauer in Game 1 and right-hander Toru Murata in Game 2, according to @tribeinsider. Murata, 30, would be making his major league debut.

Murata, a native of Osaka, Japan, is 5-3 with a 2.79 ERA in 14 games (13 starts) at Triple-A Columbus. He's 27-23 with a 3.88 ERA in five minor league seasons.

According to Murata's Wikipedia page, he throws two fastballs, a cutter, forkball, slider, curveball and changeup.

The Orioles were going to evaluate center fielder Adam Jones today before deciding whether to put him on the disabled list. The postponement gives his right shoulder another day to heal and the Orioles another day to figure out his availability.

Update: Both ends of Sunday's doubleheader will air on MASN2.

Update II: I added this update earlier and it somehow disappeared. Mike Wright will follow Gausman to the mound Sunday. The Orioles are limiting Gausman's pitch count so he remains an option to start Thursday against the Rangers.
