Nationals open 2017 at home vs. Marlins, face Orioles in May

The Nationals will open the 2017 season at home against the Marlins, will meet the Orioles in early May for their traditional home-and-home Beltways Series and face the entire American League West in interleague play.

Major League Baseball revealed next season's schedule this afternoon. It begins Monday, April 3 when the Nationals host Miami, the third time in 11 years those teams have opened a season in D.C.

Following their opening series, the Nationals make a brief road trip to Philadelphia, serving as the opponents for the Phillies' April 7 home opener. They immediately return to Washington for a homestand against the Cardinals and Phillies.

The annual Beltways Series will take place over four consecutive nights during the second week of May, with the Orioles hosting the first two games May 8-9 and the Nationals hosting the final two games May 10-11.

The interleague rotation has the Nationals facing the AL West in 2017. They'll host the Mariners (May 23-25), Rangers (June 9-11) and Angels (Aug. 15-16) while traveling to face the Athletics (June 2-4), Angels (July 18-19) and Astros (Aug. 22-24).

The Nationals again will be home for Independence Day, this time facing the Mets in what is expected to be another 11:05 a.m. start.

The 2017 regular season concludes with an unconventional matchup against a non-division rival; the Pirates will make their lone trip to Nationals Park Sept. 28-Oct. 1 for a four-game series.
