Once is not enough (updated)

The Orioles were down by two runs entering the bottom of the eighth inning. It felt like 20 for some reason. Corey Patterson reaches on a bunt single, Matt Wieters singles to right field and pinch-hitter Felix Pie scores Patterson with a single into left-center field. Down by one. Feels like one. Brian Roberts laid down a great sacrifice bunt to advance pinch-runner Josh Bell to third and Pie to second. Yes, Bell was used as a pinch-runner. He beats Wieters in a footrace. That brought up Robert Andino, still looking to extend his five-game hitting streak. He couldn't do it. Andino failed to check his swing and struck out against Yankees reliever Kerry Wood. Nick Markakis was walked intentionally to load the bases for Adam Jones, who drove in the Orioles' first run with a two-out bunt single in the first inning. Jones popped up, and the rally faded. Yankees 3, Orioles 2. Three more outs, and the Orioles will be swept for the first time under manager Buck Showalter. Guess who's warming in the Yankees' bullpen. Update: If you guessed Mariano Rivera, you are correct. If you guessed that Luke Scott would lead off the bottom of the ninth with a game-tying home run, you should play the lottery. Scott was 1-for-12 lifetime against Rivera before reaching the flag court in right field. He hadn't homered this month. We're going to extra innings.
