Orioles send Bray to Athletics to complete Brugman trade

The Orioles announced a trade this afternoon that actually completed a transaction from a month ago and it didn't involve third baseman Manny Machado.

Not much to see here, but other business must be attended to as the Orioles move through their offseason.

Bray, 25, was 2-5 with a 3.88 ERA and 18 saves in 23 opportunities over 43 appearances at Single-A Delmarva. He's 5-7 with a 2.76 ERA and 1.03 WHIP in 93 minor league games.

Bray has converted 32 of 37 save chances, his only mishaps coming this summer. He hasn't pitched above the low Single-A level.

The Orioles chose Bray in the 12th round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft out of Feather River Community College in Quincy, Cal.

Brugman, who turns 26 next month, reached the majors for the first time this summer and registered a .266/.346/.343 slash over 162 plate appearances. The Orioles remain in the market for a left-handed bat, but Brugman will be given a chance to head north with the team.
