Out of the Park: Crazy finishes, the "Hot Stove Show" and a thank you note

I hope everyone enjoyed their extended weekend over the Thanksgiving holiday surrounded by friends, family and delicious food. My favorite dish from last weekend was my grandmother's chorizo stuffing, with my aunt's green bean casserole topped with crispy onions as my sleeper pick.

This was actually a baseball-packed week with the non-tender deadline on Wednesday night and Winter Meetings a mere three days away. And although I'm sure you kept up with the latest news by checking out Roch Kubatko and Steve Melewski's tweets and blog entries, there may have been some Orioles activity on social media you may have missed.

Much like the rest of Charm City, Baltimore native Steve Johnson was tuned in to the Ravens' walk-off win against the Browns on Monday Night Football. And probably like a lot of Ravens fans, Johnson was lost for words. That's when emojis come in handy.

Johnson even put on his zebra stripes to prove that Ravens safety Will Hill remained in-bounds as he returned the blocked field goal for the game-winning touchdown. Although Johnson was designated for assignment by the Orioles on Wednesday, he will always be a Baltimore fan.

There was another celebration this week aside from the Ravens' victory. The Double-A Eastern League champion Bowie Baysox visited Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan at the State House with their new trophy.

After all the shopping on Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday, O's pitcher Tyler Wilson took part in Giving Tuesday and gave some new New Balance cleats to RISE Baseball.

In the first edition of "Out of the Park", we learned - or maybe it was just me - that Wilson is a Packers fan. That being the case, Wilson had a lot to be excited about after last night's Rodgers-to-Rodgers Hail Mary to beat the Lions. I like to call it the "Hail Rodgers."

Adam Jones' third annual #StayHungryPurpleTailgate is less than two weeks away and his guest list may have gotten a little longer. Jones extended an invite to his new teammate Mark Trumbo after the Orioles acquired the first baseman/outfielder in a trade with the Mariners.

Two weeks ago, we saw Kevin Gausman cheering on his LSU Tigers from Baton Rouge. Well, on Tuesday night, Gausman was able to combine his love for his Tigers with his love for his other home in Maryland as he cheered on the No. 2 Terps in their men's basketball primetime matchup against No. 9 North Carolina.

Roch and MASN's Jim Hunter hosted the "Hot Stove Show" on 105.7 The Fan last night live from Dempsey's Brew Pub & Restaurant. Executive vice president Dan Duquette was a live guest, and Zach Britton and Manny Machado called in to chat with the guys. The show will be live at Dempsey's from 6-7 p.m. every Thursday, and fans are encouraged to come watch.

Finally, Birdland received a heartfelt thank you note from David Lough after the Orioles non-tendered the outfielder, making him a free agent.

Thank you, David, for all your time and effort representing the orange and black.
