Rosario expected to be cut, Bell speaks

SARASOTA, Fla. - Rule 5 pick Adrian Rosario is expected to be included in today's cuts. He'll be placed on waivers, and another team can put in a claim and attempt to keep him on the major league roster. If Rosario clears as expected, the Orioles must offer him back to the Brewers for $25,000 or work out a trade. Rosario has a live arm, but he's raw. He allowed two runs and three hits, walked three batters and struck out one in two innings. Rosario's lone decision came in a loss to the Phillies in Clearwater, when he gave up the lead in the bottom of the ninth inning. Josh Bell will leave major league camp with a .225 average, four doubles, two triples and three RBIs. After walking twice in 53 games with the Orioles last season, he drew seven walks in 21 exhibition games. He also struck out 13 times and posted a .327 on-base percentage and a .425 slugging percentage. A much slimmer version of Bell showed up in camp after his winter workouts with Brady Anderson. Asked about the positive aspects that he takes from camp, Bell replied, "Just coming into spring, the way I felt, more for myself. I really don't know how they felt about it, but for myself. I liked working out with Brady, the stuff I accomplished over there. And coming into camp, I felt good. A baseball season, you can never predict how you're going to do. Myself, I do feel good about the way I feel at the plate, defensively, everything. I've got to keep refining everything that I'm doing." Bell shifted over to first base for a few games, but he'll be the regular third baseman at Triple-A Norfolk. "That's what they told me," he said. "They told me they appreciated (moving to first base). They knew I could do it. It was something more that they wanted to see in games, but as far as playing in Triple-A, it will be third base."
