Rotation looks like it's set

Manager Buck Showalter just met with the media in Toronto and indicated that he'll stay with the current rotation for the rest of the season, which concludes on Oct. 3 at Camden Yards. The way it's presently constructed, Rick VandenHurk will start today, followed by Brian Matusz tomorrow, Brad Bergesen on Tuesday, Kevin Millwood on Wednesday, Chris Tillman on Thursday, Jeremy Guthrie on Friday, VandenHurk on Saturday and Matusz on Sunday. Tillman was a candidate to be shut down, but he's totaled only 168 innings this year between Triple-A Norfolk and the majors. His previous career high was 161 2/3 innings set last year. That's not much of a strain. Also, the Orioles don't expect to receive Dr. Lewis Yocum's opinion on Jake Arrieta's right elbow until tomorrow. Showalter joked that most doctors don't work on Sundays "unless you pay them well." Arrieta isn't sure whether he'll undergo surgery to remove a bone spur from his elbow. Yocum is looking over the MRI results.
