Sammy Solis seeking second win in a row tonight for Suns

Pitching for Single-A Hagerstown, left-handed prospect Sammy Solis notched his first win as a professional Thursday with an impressive outing over Delmarva. Solis went 6 2/3 innings in his longest start of the season, allowing just five hits and one run, with five strikeouts and one walk. "It felt great giving the team a chance to win a game after my first two outings," he said. "It is still early in the season for me. I feel as though I can only get stronger." Solis hit 96 mph on his fastball and said every one of his pitches are working well. He wants to keep the momentum going into tonight's start at Lakewood as the first half comes to an end. Solis is seeking his second straight win on the road. The Blueclaws will be a good test for Solis, having been the class of the South Atlantic league for a few seasons. Solis allowed three runs in each of his first two starts, and is now 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA in 16 1/3 innings with 18 punchouts. With a good start and another win Tuesday, Solis could be very close to making the next step to Single-A Potomac. It would make sense for Solis to begin the second half of the season with the P-Nats.
