Simon surrenders to Dominican police

Orioles reliever Alfredo Simon reportedly has arrived at national police headquarters in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, where he will be questioned about the shooting that left one man dead and another injured. According to this wire story, Simon was accompanied by his mother and lawyer, who gave detectives Simon's gun as part of the investigation into the killing of a 25-year-old man on New Year's Eve. Simon claims that he fired two shots into the air. The Orioles won't issue any statements as long as Simon hasn't been charged in the case. If you're looking for a distraction, first baseman Derrek Lee will undergo his physical on Wednesday. Pitchers and catchers report to Sarasota on Feb. 13. Run with it.
