So, what's going on today?

I haven't been given any indication that the Orioles are prepared to make a managerial change today. I had a phone call returned a few minutes ago, and I'm told that nothing is imminent. Would I bet my life on everything staying the same throughout the homestand? No way. Yours? Perhaps. (OK, joking.) Things change, as I'm reminded, and the silence in some quarters always raises suspicions. But I'm fairly convinced that Dave Trembley is safe at home, at least right now. I might even venture outside later today without my laptop. I just might. However, my BlackBerry will be attached to me as usual. You can count on it. I'm thinking of undergoing a surgical procedure where my phone would be embedded into the palm of my hand for easier access. Could make for some embarrassing misdials, but life is full of risks. I do know that the Orioles are considering bullpen options and preparing for life without Koji Uehara and Alfredo Simon. That's the major concern today. I've already written multiple times about the possibility that David Hernandez moves to the bullpen, where he could blow away hitters for a few innings, and a young starter is called up from Triple-A Norfolk. The Orioles have another off-day next Monday (sorry Dave), so the rotation could be in flux anyway. As for other relief possibilities, Armando Gabino is 2-0 with a 1.71 ERA in nine games (including one start), with seven walks and 22 strikeouts in 21 innings. He's not on the 40-man roster. Opposing batters are 4-for-37 against Dennis Sarfate, who threw two more scoreless innings yesterday, striking out four. He's given up two earned runs and four hits, with eight walks and 13 strikeouts, in 10 2/3 innings. He's not on the 40-man. Ross Wolf is 0-2 with a 2.70 ERA in 15 games, with eight earned runs and 24 hits allowed in 26 2/3 innings. He's walked 11 and struck out 21. He's not on the 40-man. Alberto Castillo is on the 40-man. So is Kam Mickolio, who just returned after dealing with a sore back. He's got a 7.71 ERA in 11 2/3 innings. Is the answer not found on the 40? Perhaps, but I wouldn't bet my life on it. Yours? Well...
