Still pitching for Cantu, wondering about a lefty reliever

We can't let the morning escape without another Vladimir Guerrero update. This one barely qualifies, but SI.com's Jon Heyman tweeted that the Orioles and Guerrero haven't talked in two weeks. Again, the Orioles could end up with Guerrero simply because he's lounging in the bargain bin and the discount is too good to ignore, but nothing appears to be imminent. Perhaps that one phone call that changes everything is made this week, but it won't mean that the Orioles were "close" a few days ago. I intend to watch football all day and not give Guerrero another thought. I'll also beat the Jorge Cantu drum one more time. He's still on the market. He can provide a right-handed bat with some pop off the bench. He can back up at the corner infield positions. The other option is using Brendan Harris or Robert Andino, who also can play the middle infield positions. Or Jake Fox, who also can catch and play the outfield, though you wouldn't want him doing it for an extended period. You know the concern over using your backup catcher in the field. You remove him from the game, the starting catcher gets hurt and you're suddenly in a bind. So what? It wouldn't be the end of the world, or your season. We'll need to learn the identity of the emergency third catcher on this team, since Ty Wigginton is gone. I'll add it to the spring training list. The Orioles will sign a left-handed reliever, perhaps to a minor league deal with a spring training invite, and you'll feign excitement. Here's that list again: Joe Beimel (34) Randy Flores (35) Mark Hendrickson (37) Ron Mahay (40) Dennys Reyes (34) Bobby Seay (33) Scott Schoeneweis (37) Agent Scott Boras represents Seay and Schoeneweis. He also represents Kevin Millwood. I'm thinking about another package deal like the one he sold to the Rays. I'm also thinking about a Packers-Jets Super Bowl.
