The pitching matchups for tonight's game

Orioles right-hander Mike Wright is working on six days' rest again tonight, which must feel normal given his inconsistent routine.

Wright also had six days between his first two starts of the season. Starts between April 29 and May 7 were interrupted by one inning in relief on May 4.

The weather is the main culprit. And Wright isn't complaining. It beats pitching every five days in the minors.

Wright has faced the Tigers once in his career, working a scoreless inning on July 31, 2015. Rajai Davis was caught stealing, Jose Iglesias grounded to second, Ian Kinsler grounded to short and Victor Martinez singled.

Left-handers are batting .349 against Wright. Captain Obvious says he'll need to work on that. Right-handers are hitting .247.

Anibal Sanchez is 3-3 with a 5.89 ERA and 1.636 WHIP in seven starts covering 36 2/3 innings. He's still in search of his first quality start, though he's twice allowed two runs in 5 2/3 innings and also surrendered two in five innings. So, he's been pretty close.

The plate keeps moving on Sanchez, who's averaging 5.4 walks per nine innings.

Sanchez is 2-1 with a 5.09 ERA in four career starts against the Orioles and 1-1 with a 6.23 ERA in two starts at Camden Yards. The current group is batting .326 against him.

Pedro Alvarez is 5-for-15 with two doubles, two home runs and six strikeouts. Manager Buck Showalter alluded to a few changes coming in the lineup tonight, but Alvarez figures to stay.

Matt Wieters, who's going to catch on back-to-back nights, is 4-for-9 with a home run. Manny Machado is 3-for-6 with a home run.

Could Machado moved back to third base tonight, with shortstop Paul Janish receiving only his second start? Janish was in the lineup for Game 1 of last Saturday's doubleheader. That's it.

Would it be crazy to consider a lineup with Alvarez at third base and Machado staying at shortstop? Hyun Soo Kim could be the designated hitter while plus defender Joey Rickard stays in left field.

I'm just floating the idea. It's based on nothing except my imagination.

Mark Trumbo's streak of reaching base in consecutive games, the second-longest in the majors, ended last night at 25.

Adam Jones is batting .407 (11-for-27) with three home runs and eight RBIs during a six-game hitting streak. Last night's home run gave him 663 RBIs and sole possession of eight place on the club's all-time list. He moved past Melvin Mora.

The Orioles will try to match their longest winning streak of the season at seven games.
