This and that (and other)

Did the Rays really hang seven runs on the Yankees in the bottom of the fifth to wipe out a 6-0 deficit? I mentioned Jake Arrieta's improved control in my last entry. He's walked two and struck out 13 in his last three starts. That's critical to his development. Arrieta still needs to improve his tempo, but there's a lot to like about him, including the fact that he's gone six or more innings in six of his last eight starts. Which No. 9 hitting third baseman with three strikeouts is your favorite tonight? Tonight's attendance: 16,589. The Ravens must not play on back-to-back nights. Probably an NFL rule. Update: The Orioles have erupted for six runs in the bottom of the seventh to take a 9-0 lead, the last three scoring on Robert Andino's bases-loaded double. Adam Jones and Matt Wieters had RBI singles, and another run scored on reliever Josh Roenicke's error as he tried to field Josh Bell's tapper to the mound. The six runs ties the Orioles' highest output in an inning this season. Their largest margin of victory before tonight was seven runs. I also believe that, if this score holds up, it would be their largest margin of victory ever on their manager's T-shirt night. I'm liking that consecutive-series-wins stat more and more. I still haven't forgotten that 18-3 loss at Exhibition Stadium, but this game came along at the right time, even if the Orioles didn't hit 10 home runs.
