Urrutia reports to Baysox

Outfielder Henry Urrutia has joined Double-A Bowie and officially been added to the roster. He's batting third tonight and playing right field.

The Baysox are in Harrisburg for a three-games series.

The Orioles promoted outfielder Mike Yastrzemski to Triple-A Norfolk on Monday and assigned Urrutia to Bowie, a move that disappointed him and raised questions whether he'd report. He had until today to do so and arrived in Harrisburg earlier this afternoon.

Urrutia was batting .245/.347/.304 with six doubles, 11 RBIs and nine runs scored in 32 games with Norfolk. He began his U.S. career with Bowie in 2013 and hit .365/.433/.550 with 16 doubles, seven home runs, 37 RBIs and 33 runs scored in 52 games before the Orioles promoted him to Norfolk.

Urrutia made his major league debut that same year, playing his first game on July 20 in Texas, and collected his first hit and RBI.

Executive vice president Dan Duquette said earlier this week that Urrutia will play the outfield and first base with Bowie. He's aware that Urrutia prefers staying at Norfolk.

Yastrzemski, grandson of Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski, batted .268/.361/.449 with five doubles, six home runs, 27 RBIs and 27 runs scored in 33 games with Bowie. He's 5-for-17 with a triple, home run, three RBIs and three runs scored in four games with Norfolk.
