VandenHurk's debut (updated)

Rick VandenHurk walked off the mound to a partial standing ovation after striking out Michael Young to end the top of the seventh inning. VandenHurk walked leadoff hitter Julio Borbon on five pitches before striking out Elvis Andus. He picked off Borbon and fanned Young to complete a 12-pitch inning. VandenHurk's fastball hit 95 mph. He threw three straight heaters at Andrus - 93, 95 and 94 mph - and struck him out on an 81 mph curveball. He started off Young with a 95 mph fastball and threw three consecutive sliders, the last at 84 mph, before returning to the dugout. Update: Ty Wigginton led off the bottom of the ninth with his 20th home run, a 397-foot shot to right-center field off Neftali Feliz. Wigginton launched a 97 mph fastball. Rangers 6, Orioles 4. Did you remember today's anniversary? The Rangers beat the Orioles, 30-3, in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Aug. 22, 2007 at Camden Yards. You can enjoy the box score and game summary here. I'll never forget a day that features Freddie Bynum in left field and shortstop. Your designated hitter: J.R. House. Brian Burres was charged with eight runs and eight hits in two-thirds of an inning. Rob Bell gave up seven runs in 1 1/3 innings, and Paul Shuey allowed nine runs in two innings. I don't think Shuey ever recovered. Nice way to celebrate the news that the interim tag had come off manager Dave Trembley.
