Waring down opponents

Brandon Waring hit his second homer in his last two games with Double-A Bowie, and his third in 10 games, raising his season's total to 15 and giving him 48 RBIs. Waring went 2-for-4 to bump up his average to .245, and the Baysox rallied for three runs in the ninth inning to take an 8-6 victory over Richmond. Ryan Adams, Tyler Henson and Joe Mahoney each had two hits for Bowie. Henson drove in the tying run in the ninth, and Mahoney tripled in two more to provide the winning margin. Steve Johnson allowed one run and four hits in five innings. Matt Angle went 2-for-4 to raise his average to .282, but Triple-A Norfolk lost to Columbus, 6-1. Rhyne Hughes accounted for Norfolk's other hit. Nolan Reimold, starting again at first base, went 0-for-4 to lower his average to .211. Tim Bascom allowed three runs and four hits in three innings. Jim Miller tossed three scoreless innings in relief, holding Columbus to one hit and not walking a batter, but Cla Meredith gave up one run and three hits in one inning to leave his ERA at 12.46. Single-A Frederick lost both ends of its doubleheader with Wilmington, falling 10-1 in Game 1 and 2-0 in the nightcap. L.J. Hoes went 2-for-3 in the opener. Pedro Florimon had Frederick's only hit in Game 2. Tyler Townsend hit his first home run in Single-A Delmarva's 3-0 victory over West Virginia. Jesse Beal tossed seven scoreless innings, allowing three hits, walking one and striking out five. Center fielder Trent Mummey contributed an RBI double in short-season Single-A Aberdeen's 7-6 loss to Vermont.
