What's going on? (updated)

The Orioles just introduced first-round pick Manny Machado to the Camden Yards crowd after the top of the third inning. Joe Jordan, director of scouting, stood on the field with Machado, who acknowledged the fans' applause with a wave and a smile. If the Orioles are going to have 10 quality starts in their last 11 games, Jeremy Guthrie will have to blank the Yankees over the next three innings. He's allowed three runs and four hits in three innings, with one walk and four strikeouts. He's thrown 56 pitches. Update: Guthrie gave up another run in the fourth. No quality start tonight. Robert Andino made a nice running grab in foul territory to retire Jorge Posada and end the third, stranding a runner in the process. Andino only had two balls hit to him last night in his major league debut at third base - a line drive and a pop up. We assume he can handle a ground ball, but so far it's only speculation. Andino also is 2-for-2 tonight with a single, double, run scored and stolen base. Cesar Izturis and Ty Wigginton have delivered the Orioles' two runs with sacrifice flies. Wigginton just plated Andino in the third. Yankees 3, Orioles 2. Jake Arrieta considers the 2010 season to be "a success," even if it ended a little earlier than he desired. "I learned a lot in Triple-A," he said. "I figured a lot of things out, figured a lot of things out at this level, and I know that I can be a pretty good pitcher at this level. I'm just really excited to go into spring training, especially with the way we're playing right now. It's a very exciting time for us as a team and I'm just excited that I'm going to be healthy and ready to go in spring training." Asked the one area where he needs to improve most, Arrieta replied, "I think it's something that I really worked on my past three starts and that's my mechanics, getting the front foot down and not spinning off my delivery, kind of falling off the side. That puts a lot of stress on your body overall. Just to be able to iron that out was something I needed to do for a long time. "I think that was something that came from when they put me in the fall league after I signed. I went out there as a reliever. You want to go out and show guys that you belong at that level and I think just tried to do too much. It kind of carried over into my first minor league season, but I'm mature enough to be able to make those adjustments and I was pretty successful at doing that. And I think it showed in my past couple starts. Just being consistent in my delivery is a big thing for next year." Arrieta also should improve his tempo and cut down on the walks.
