Wilson and Ynoa joining the Orioles in Boston (Wilson recalled)

BOSTON - Last night's early ejection of starting pitcher Kevin Gausman has forced the Orioles to make multiple roster moves for tonight's series finale against the Red Sox.

Pitchers Tyler Wilson and Gabriel Ynoa will be recalled from Triple-A Norfolk. Wilson will get the start, with Ynoa going to the bullpen.

Wilson has posted a 2.61 ERA in five career games against the Red Sox. He's tossed 11 scoreless innings in two appearances at Fenway Park, including one start.

Ubaldo Jiménez no longer is the listed starter after working three scoreless innings in relief last night. He followed left-hander Richard Bleier, who replaced Gausman and tossed four innings.

Bleier and Alec Asher are expected to be optioned. Asher has made two quality starts, but his next turn falls on Sunday and Chris Tillman is expected to come off the disabled list.

Asher wouldn't be available for a few more days and the Orioles need help in the bullpen.

Tyler Wilson back gray.jpgWilson has made five relief appearances with the Orioles this season and allowed three runs and six hits in five innings. He was optioned on April 19 when the Orioles recalled left-hander Jayson Aquino.

The roster moves come fast and furious.

Wilson has made two starts with the Tides and allowed four earned runs and 10 hits in seven innings. He's working on five days' rest tonight after going four innings on Friday against Syracuse.

Ynoa would be working on regular rest after allowing two earned runs Saturday in 6 1/3 innings. He's 1-4 with a 6.65 ERA and 1.89 WHIP in five starts and opponents are batting .361 against him, but the reports have been more favorable since he gave up five runs and 10 hits in 2 2/3 innings in his first outing.

The Orioles acquired Ynoa from the Mets on Feb. 10 for cash considerations and optioned him to Norfolk on April 2.

Meanwhile, the Orioles have made a move to upgrade their catching depth, acquiring Armando Araiza, 22, from the Braves for cash. The club hasn't announced the deal.

Araiza appeared in 11 games at Double-A Mississippi and batted .143/.167/.286 (5-for-35) with two doubles, a home run and 11 strikeouts. He's 3-for-7 with four runs scored in his last two games.

Araiza is a career .235/.323/.330 hitter in 412 minor league games.

The Orioles are shuffling their catchers due to Francisco Peña's promotion yesterday to the majors and a knee injury sustained by Double-A Bowie catcher Audry Perez, who's been placed on the disabled list. Yermin Mercedes moved up yesterday from Single-A Frederick to Bowie. Daniel Fajardo moved up yesterday from low Single-A Delmarva to Norfolk because the Tides were playing a day game after a night game, and he collected his first Triple-A hit.

Araiza is expected to be paired with Chance Sisco at Norfolk, at least until Welington Castillo comes off the disabled list and Peña returns to the Tides if he clears waivers and accepts an outright assignment.

Update: Wilson has been recalled and Bleier has been optioned. However, no word on Ynoa. He's no longer with Norfolk, but the Orioles may not officially recall him tonight. Could be a taxi squad situation.
