Xavier Avery having a night of firsts (game tied, 2-2)

Xavier Avery is batting first again tonight after making his major league debut on Sunday. Avery picked up his first major league hit with a double to center field off Yankees starter Ivan Nova. Avery scored his first major league run on J.J. Hardy's single up the middle. Maybe this will be the night that Avery hits his first major league home run or steals his first base or hits for his first cycle. OK, baby steps. Here's hoping he doesn't pull his first groin muscle in the majors or strain his first intercostal. The Orioles aren't supposed to be making any roster moves tonight. Adam Jones doubled to score Hardy and increase the lead to 2-0 as a light rain continues to fall at Camden Yards. Down on the farm, Dylan Bundy gave up another unearned run tonight in the first inning on a passed ball. That's two unearned runs in 22 innings at Single-A Delmarva after a scoreless second. Bundy hit a batter in the second, but it didn't cost him. Update: Bundy went five innings against Lakewood and allowed one unearned run and two hits, walked none, struck out three and hit a batter. In seven starts, he's allowed two unearned runs and four hits in 25 innings, with two walks and 36 strikeouts. Infielder Zelous Wheeler cleared waivers and was outrighted to Double-A Bowie. The Orioles designated Wheeler for assignment to make room for Dana Eveland on the 40-man roster. Update II: Jason Hammel was cruising along through three innings, allowing no runs and two hits and striking out three, but the Yankees have scored twice in the fourth to tie the game, 2-2. Alex Rodriguez and Robinson Cano hit back-to-back singles and they both came home with one out on Nick Swisher's double.
