Roberts and Bergesen updates (updated twice)

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Brian Roberts is 0-for-2 with a walk and a strikeout. He’s seen 10 pitches and swung at one, resulting in a ground ball to first base that ended the top of the fifth inning.

Brendan Harris was ready to replace him in the field in the bottom of the fifth, but Roberts motioned that he wanted to stay in the game. And he did.

Brad Bergesen allowed two runs and eight hits in five innings, throwing 50 of his 74 pitches for strikes. He walked one batter, Evan Longoria with two outs in the fifth to load the bases. Manny Ramirez flied to right to take Bergesen off the hook.

Ryan Drese has been warming in the bullpen.

Back-to-back doubles by Adam Jones and Nick Markakis in the sixth tied the game, 2-2, with no outs.

Instant update: Luke Scott, 3-for-33 before today, just singled to give the Orioles a 3-2 lead. He’s 2-for-3.

Update II: Another run scored on Felix Pie’s double-play grounder. Harris has replaced Roberts in the bottom of the sixth. Drese is pitching.

Mark Reynolds is 2-for-3 with a strikeout.
