Orioles and Red Sox lineups

BOSTON - The Orioles are listing Jonathan Schoop among their reserves for today’s game against the Red Sox.

Schoop was removed last night in the eighth inning with discomfort in his side.

No move has been announced to accommodate starter Alex Cobb.

Pedro Álvarez is batting second as the designated hitter. Tim Beckham is the second baseman and Danny Valencia is playing third.

Manny Machado has 47 career RBIs against the Red Sox, his highest total versus any opponent.

Trey Mancini is a career .365 (27-for-74) hitter in 20 games against the Red Sox. He’s hit safely in his first eight career games at Fenway Park, the longest opening streak by an Orioles player since Don Baylor (10) in 1972-73.

Gary Kendall will manage his 1,000th career game tonight with Double-A Bowie. He’s been in the Orioles’ organization for 19 years.

“That’s a pretty big deal,” said manager Buck Showalter. “He’s been a rock. Nothing beneath him. Gary’s special. We’re lucky to have him.”
