Orioles and Red Sox lineups (and notes)

The Orioles are deciding on their corresponding roster move for Yefry Ramirez, who makes his major league debut today. They’re leery of removing a reliever and being short in the bullpen.

Chris Davis is out of the lineup again today as the Orioles close out their series against the Red Sox, who are sending left-hander Chris Sale to the mound.

Davis also sat last night against left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez.

Adam Jones also is on the bench today to provide some rest. He’s fine physically other than the usual wear and tear over the course of a season.

Gentry-Runs-White-Sidebar.jpgCraig Gentry is in center field. Trey Mancini moves up to second in the lineup. Jace Peterson is in left field.

Danny Valencia remains the cleanup hitter. He’s 7-for-19 during a five-game hitting streak, with a double and home run.

Valencia has drawn a walk in five straight games for the first time in his career. He’s hit safely in 15 of 18 games since May 13.

Gentry is 9-for-23 (.391) in his last 13 games since May 27.

Andrew Cashner had a 1 p.m. appointment to receive and MRI and the Orioles should get the results later today. Cashner is on the disabled list with a strained muscle in his lower back, but he could return for Tuesday night’s game against the Nationals in D.C.

The Orioles are batting .216 with runners in scoring position through 66 games, ranking 28th in the majors. They’re hitting .189 with RISP and two outs, also 28th in the majors.

Mancini is batting .089 (4-for-45) with RISP, Jonathan Schoop .152 (7-for-46), Joey Rickard .143 (2-for-14), Peterson .174 (4-for-23), Pedro Álvarez .143 (3-for-21) and Davis .213 (10-for-47).

Third baseman Tim Beckham begins his injury rehab assignment Friday night at Double-A Bowie.

Baysox outfielder Austin Hays must stay in a walking boot for two more weeks while recovering from an ankle injury.
