Posting some stats before the start of O’s vs. M’s

Checking on some O’s and Mariners stats as those teams begin a three-game series tonight at Camden Yards.

The Orioles scored just one run and hit .161 (10 for 62) in losing the last two games of the Minnesota series. The Birds have scored two runs or less in five of the last seven games.

The Orioles have gone without a hit with runners in scoring position in six of their last seven games. They went 8 for 16 with RISP in the other game which was the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader.

The Orioles are 7-4 when scoring four runs or more and just 2-19 when scoring less than four.

Adam Jones does not have an extra-base hit over his last eight games while Miguel Tejada has gone nine games without an RBI and Garrett Atkins has gone 14 games without an RBI.

The O’s lost three straight in Seattle from April 19 to 21, scoring just four runs in that series. They hit .184 (18 for 98) in those three games with just five extra-base hits.

The Mariners beat LA 8-1 Sunday to snap an eight-game losing streak. During the streak, Seattle scored a total of 12 runs and hit just .173 and was shutout three times.

Seattle is 3-12 since its 9-7 start and is 4-9 on the road and 3-16 when scoring less than four runs.

The Mariners rank last in the AL in runs (102), homers (12) and OPS (.635) and are 13th in batting (.229).

While several M’s struggle at bat, Ichiro Suzuki is hitting .366 (24 for 93) over his last 22 games.

Ichiro, who is 4 for 11 this year vs. the Birds is batting .365-7-32 in 87 career games vs. Baltimore pitching. He has a career average of .388 in his career playing at Camden Yards.
